Chapter Five
Journey
He had found a member of the Eon Eight already.
Twilight couldn't believe his luck. All Eon Eight members are very rare. And he finds one it the first town he goes to! Suddenly, the side Gunk whiped started to sting, and he relized this might not be easy. Gunk is like Happinies are to Metagrosses compared to the Necro Guard. He looked over at Dawn, who was looking a little guilty. He made his rings glow a little more.
"It's not your fault, okay? I was the one trying to find you, anyways," he said to her. The Espeon didn't meet his gaze as he had hoped.
"Why were you looking for me?" She ask, finally looking at him.
Twilight didn't know how to explain it. "Well, er-- See, there's this prophacy. It talks of the Eight. A Pokemon came into my dream yesterday, telling I have to find the Eight and stop the Dark King..."
Before Twilight could explain more, he and Dawn were shoved into the bushes by an unknown force. Twilight imediantly summoned a Shadow Ball to he throat, ready to fight the attacker. Dawn started to squeal. Has she never fought? He thought. Then he let the Ball go onto his attacker, and instantly the Pokemon was hit and thrown to a tree across from them. Then Twilight saw her. It was Rose, unmistakable by the band on her leaf and the bandana on her neck. Now it was Twilight's turn to feel guilty. His ring glow died down.
Rose sat up, shaking a little. "Sorry, should have approched you a little friendlier," she muttered, "I was comming to rescue you, but I see you escaped." She stood up all the way.
"But why did you attack us?" Twilight asked, feeling better that Rose admitted she should have known she would have been attacked.
"Come," she said, beckoning them. Twilight followed, but Dawn was hesitant.
Twilight went back to her. "Rose is fine. She's nice, and'll give you food. Berries, accually. Not accual food, but close enough," Twilight was referring to meat. Dawn nodded and followed.
Rose led them back to her house, and once they were in she closed the door and locked it. She also covered the windows and lighted the room with a candle. Twilight made his rings glow more to add to the light. He looked over to Dawn, and saw that the little red jewel on her forehead was giving off a small glow aswell. Well, looks like I'm not the only one who can create light, he thought with a smile.
Rose had them sit at the table, and she leaned in. "The reason I attacked you was because you were talkin' of the prophecy. Did you know Necro hasn't heard of the prophecy yet? But once he does, and figures it out, we'll be doomed." She looked side to side. "He has spies everywhere. Some think even some spies in the rebel army. Times like these are very dangerous, Twilight and Dawn. You must be careful in your journey."
"Journey?" Dawn spoke up. "When were we going on a journey? I'm fine here, thank you. I grew up in that circus, so I am horrible at defending myself! Twilight here, he's good, but not me. You guys go, I'm staying."
Twilight felt like he'd fallen off a cliff. He could tell Rose did too. "Dawn, this journey is special. Twilight needs you, as does the kingdom! The prophecy talks of the Eon Eight, the eight Eevee evolutions!" Rose protested. "Twilight can teach you to fight like him. You will do well, Dawn. Are you goin' to let the whole kingdom down because you can't fight?"
Dawn looked down. "Alright. I'm in, but only because of the kingdom, and that I can't live anywhere."
Rose smiled. "Good," she went into another room, and came back with a wooven bag full of something. "Here are some Berries. Twilight already knows two. I have two Oran Berries, they will heal you a little. Two Pecha Berries will heal you of poison. Two Rawst Berries will heal you of burning. And this," she held out a single, yellow berry, "is a Sitrus Berry. It will heal you a lot, but use it well. There is only one."
Rose closed the bag and handed it to Dawn. "Twilight will protect you, and you will carry the Berries." Dawn took it and tied it on her back. "Good luck to you," said Rose, "the whole rebel army is counting on you."
"Are you part of the rebel army, Rose?" Twilight was dieing to ask.
Rose smiled and gave a little nodd. "Be warned, I'm a nicer one. Some other rebels are tought not to believe anything." She reached into Dawn's bag. "However, show any rebel this, and you will recieve help."
She was holding a metal plate, and it was in the shape of a Lucario head. Twilight guessed it was suppose to be King Tyzar. Rose put it back in the bag and closed it tightly. "Like I said, the whole risistance is with you."
The sentence brought a spark of hope into Twilight's heart. The whole risistance is with you, it made it seem he wasn't the only one going up against Necro as he had thought when he began. He saw there was the rebels, who although were in hiding, still fought agaist the Iron Army, the name of Necro's followers. And with Pokemon like Rose as spies, the rebels were doing well. But, what would happen if Necro learned of the prophecy? Twilight shook off the thought. There was no way he would. Twilight would never allow it.
Dawn sat up, ajusted to the fact she had a bag on her back, and jumped off the chair and headed for the door. "Come on, Twilight. Let's find this Eon Eight," she didn't sound too enthusiatic.
"Dawn, this is a bigger deal than you think," Twilight tried to explain.
Dawn smiled and rolled her eyes comically. "Yes, I know. So let's find them, already!" She sounded a little more enthusiatic. Twilight made his ring glow more with pride and excitment.
"Go now, dears!" Rose said happily. "And may Arceus grant you luck!"
Twilight nodded and exited the house. Dawn followed right behind, and Twilight could sence the fear waves comming off her. He felt really guilty then. What was he bringing Dawn into? What kind of world we he leading them to? A world of violence, a world of cruelty. That's where they were headed. Dawn was very safe at Gunk's circus, somewhat, and yet she had left for him. He could be leading her to her death for all he knew. His ring glow died down as he looked over at the inexpeirianced Espeon.
"What?" She said. "Why do you look so nervous?"
"Dawn," Twilight had to say it. "You can go back if you want to. To the circus. It's safer there then where I was going to lead you. I don't know if there are any other Espeons, but you don't have to do this as Rose said. You can go be safe,"
"You know Twilight," she replied, "I was thinking of that, you know. But I was also thinking of this; if I don't go, and you fail, soon my home won't be safe anymore. No where will be safe, like you say, if I don't go. I've no choice Twi, I'm comming with you, and that's that."
Twilight's rings glowed more. Not just at the fact she was comming, but that she called him "Twi". Only Dark used to call him Twi, because he was his friend. It made him feel happier that he had another friend. "Okay, but let's wait until dark before we start off."
"Why night?"
"Because I hunt better at night, and we can get some food, then." He told her.
A discusted face appeared on Dawn. "Hunt?! As in killing?! You kill other Pokemon? That's... sick." She backed up, hitting a tree.
"But, we have to eat, Dawn." Twilight protested. "What you wanna eat instead then? Leaves? Go ahead. I'll have meat, thank you." He was surprized at the fact that Dawn hadn't ever had meat before.
"Fine, I will." She retorted.
Twilight shook his head. "Looks like it's getting a little dark, perhaps I'll hunt now?" He was teasing her now.
"Go head, sicko." She spat.
Twilight recoiled a little. "Sicko? Dawn, if you were born in the wild, you'd be hunting too. What did Gunk feed you, anyways? Gruel? Sludge?"
"It was bread, usually. Bristly, but good." She sighed. "Come to think of it, it wasn't very good." She looked at him directly. "What's meat even taste like?"
"Hmm... Depends on the prey," Twilight explained. "Bug Pokemon are juicey, and furred Pokemon are salty and soury. Feathered Pokemon have usually a sweet taste. The best ever meal are Farfetch'd, but them being rare and all, it's best not to have very many. Once a year, maybe."
"I see," she said, now looking down. "I'm not trying meat now, but maybe later?"
"If you want," smiled Twilight as he headed toward the forest.
Dawn's eyes widened. "TWILIGHT, STOP!!!" Her jewel was glowing brightly.
"Wha--?"
The next thing he felt was a massive force on his side. Something Body Slammed him, hard. He looked up and saw the rocky hide of a Rhydon. He looked over at Dawn, and saw she was surrounded by a Lairon and a Rhyhorn. Lairons... It might be a Necro Guard!! Panick whelled inside Twilight. The Rhydon got off him, but kept him down with his arms. His hot breath was on his neck. Twilight looked up and saw a tatoo on the Rhydon's forehead, baring a red circle with a silhouette of a Aggron in the center. He was of the Necro Guard, as Twilight feared.
"What've we here, boys?" Rumbled the Rhydon, a sharp scratch to his voice. "Tresspassers, eh? Can't do with tresspassers here, ya know, little Umbreon."
Next thing Twilight felt was a large pain to the back of his head, and all went blank.
